Blade Replacement for Old Silverware
Restoring Your Heirloom Cutlery
Do you have antique cutlery tucked away in a drawer because it looks rusty and unusable? Even if it has genuine silver handles and high value? We offer a unique service: inserting brand-new, stainless steel blades into your vintage silverware – dishwasher-safe and long-lasting.
Our Process
Stainless steel only became common after 1930. Earlier cutlery was often of superior quality – and worth restoring. Here's how we do it:
- Remove the old blade and any leftover filler material from the handle
- Select a matching blade shape – over 50 types in stock
- Insert and seal the new stainless blade (dishwasher-safe)
- Polish the handle and sharpen the new blade by hand
Transparent Pricing
- New stainless blade including sharpening: €25
- Removal, cleaning, insertion & polishing: €30
Prices are per piece and may vary slightly depending on blade style.
Important Notes & Possible Risks
Please note: we cannot guarantee that every handle will survive the blade removal process undamaged. In rare cases, older filler materials may cause damage or reaction. In over 10 years, this has only occurred once.
Thin or lightly silver-plated handles (e.g. alpaca) may develop small cracks or flake slightly. This is rare but possible. We always work with utmost care, but cannot replace damaged handles due to age or material fragility.
Fork Tip Replacement Also Available
We also offer tip replacement for old forks – restoring broken or bent tines with new stainless ones.
